The Wheeler Centre

The Wheeler Centre is located at 176 Little Lonsdale Street, Melbourne, in the side of the State Library of Victoria between Swanston Street and Russell Street, opposite the QV shopping centre.
Located in the central business district, it’s within easy walking distance of public transport, taxis, bicycle hire stations and parking.
Getting there
Public Transport
The Wheeler Centre is easily accessible by bus, train and tram. Maps, timetables and route and fare information are available from Public Transport Victoria.
Bus
The nearest bus stops are located on Lonsdale, Russell and Exhibition Streets.
Train
Melbourne Central Station is directly opposite the State Library’s front entrance. Most metropolitan trains stop at this station. If you’re travelling from country Victoria, you can transfer from your regional train to a metropolitan train at Southern Cross or North Melbourne stations.
Tram
Trams can be caught from the superstop outside the State Library on Swanston Street, between Little Lonsdale and LaTrobe Streets.
Other nearby stops include those a block away, at the corners of Elizabeth and LaTrobe Streets.
Bicycle
There are several bike racks close to the Wheeler Centre where you can lock up your bike:
- At the corner of Swanston and LaTrobe Streets • On LaTrobe Street near Mr Tulk • Near the wheelchair access ramp on LaTrobe Street • On the corner of Swanston and Little Lonsdale Street • Outside QV opposite the Wheeler Centre on Little Lonsdale Street
There’s also a Melbourne Bike Share station at the corner of Swanston and Little Lonsdale Streets, where you can hire or return a shared bike.
Taxi
The nearest taxi rank is on Elizabeth Street, outside Melbourne Central. Several private tricycle taxi companies also operate in Melbourne’s CBD.
Car
There are several car parks close to the Wheeler Centre, including those at Melbourne Central and QV shopping centres where you can park for a fee. There is on-street (two hour metered) parking – including two disabled spots – on Little Lonsdale Street outside the Wheeler Centre.
